Malahide Gardens was proud to receive a New Zealand Garden of Distinction Award in 2003 (one of only 11 awarded throughout NZ by the Canterbury Horticultural Society). Since 1998 the gardens have been open to the Public and we have hosted numerous weddings and garden tours for local. national and international visitors.
The gardens feature a large number of mature evergreen and deciduous trees (some of them rare) and in the spring the garden is awash with bulbs, rhododendrons, magnolia and blossom trees dominating. Summer time the garden is flush with roses, hostas, irises and other perennials. The garden is ever changing with something to see right through out the year.
